A letter from your GP could save your life: new study aims to speed up colonoscopies

NCT ID NCT07520578

First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether sending an early letter with information about colonoscopy, especially one signed by your own general practitioner, can increase the number of people who get a follow-up colonoscopy within 6 months after a positive colorectal cancer screening test. About 2,000 adults aged 50-75 in central France will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care, an early letter from the screening center, or an early letter co-signed by their doctor. The goal is to improve follow-up rates and reduce delays, which can be critical for catching cancer early.
