Which anesthetic keeps blood pressure steadier in brain surgery?
NCT ID NCT06091904
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests two anesthetic drugs, sufentanil and remifentanil, in 92 people having brain bypass surgery. The goal is to see which drug better prevents dangerously low blood pressure during the operation. Researchers will also monitor heart rate and the need for additional blood pressure support.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
sufentanil and remifentanil (anesthetic drugs)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a better anesthetic choice to keep blood pressure stable during brain bypass surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (92 people) comparing two drugs already in use, so it won't lead to a new treatment. It only tests which drug works better for this specific surgery.
