Scientists probe why trauma survivors get stuck in a cycle of sickness
NCT ID NCT05616130
Summary
This study aims to understand why some people who survive severe injuries later develop serious infections and long-term health problems. Researchers will collect blood and bone marrow samples from 255 adults with major trauma injuries and compare them to samples from people having routine hip surgery. By studying these samples over six months, they hope to learn how injuries change the immune system and increase infection risk.
