Mind over muscle: how focus during exercise may change walking in seniors

NCT ID NCT06538766

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether the way older adults focus their attention during strength training affects how they walk. Forty-five healthy older adults will do calf raises for 4 weeks, either focusing on the muscle itself or on an external cue. Researchers will measure changes in walking patterns and brain signals using magnetic stimulation. The goal is to understand how attention strategies might improve gait, not to test a new treatment.
