First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether 8 weeks of strength training could improve balance, muscle performance, and symptoms in 57 adults with fibromyalgia. Participants did 16 sessions of 50-minute strength exercises twice a week. Researchers measured balance, jumping ability, and upper body strength, and used a questionnaire to track how fibromyalgia affected daily life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Strength exercise
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to ease fibromyalgia symptoms and improve physical function.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 57 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Strength training may not help all symptoms or be safe for those with other health issues.
