Summary
This pilot study tests a 12-week workshop called STEP-Home-SP for veterans who recently left military service. The workshop teaches emotional regulation and problem-solving skills to help with reintegration and reduce suicide risk. Researchers will enroll 120 veterans to see if the program is feasible and acceptable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
STEP-Home-SP behavioral workshop
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a practical, non-stigmatizing program to help veterans adjust to civilian life and lower suicide risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study focused on feasibility, not effectiveness. The results may not apply broadly, and the workshop may not reduce suicide risk as hoped.
