New radiation technique may shield organs in scleroderma stem cell therapy
NCT ID NCT04380831
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This early study tests whether a precise form of total body radiation, given with chemotherapy before a patient's own stem cell transplant, is safe and feasible for people with severe systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). The goal is to reduce radiation exposure to the lungs and kidneys while still preparing the body for transplant. About 15 participants will be enrolled to see if this approach can be done without causing too many side effects.
