Could fetal stem cells repair damaged lungs? new trial investigates

NCT ID NCT07477600

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new treatment for moderate-to-severe COPD, a serious lung disease that makes it hard to breathe. Researchers are giving patients infusions of special stem cells taken from fetal tissue, hoping these cells can repair damaged lung structures and reduce inflammation. The main goals are to see if the treatment is safe and if it can improve patients' lung function, exercise ability, and quality of life.
