Summary

This study tested whether statins, a common cholesterol drug, could change the gut bacteria in people with ulcerative colitis to a healthier type. The goal was to see if this bacterial change could help control the disease. The trial was stopped early and involved 177 adults with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.
