New combo aims to cut hormone therapy in prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT06574880

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This trial is testing whether combining the drug Pluvicto with precise radiation (SBRT) can lower the chance of cancer returning in men with locally advanced prostate cancer, while also reducing the need for long-term hormone therapy. About 45 participants will receive one to three doses of Pluvicto along with five radiation sessions. The study is in early phases, so the main goals are to find the safest dose and see how long men can go without needing hormone therapy.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Pluvicto (Lu-PSMA-617) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a way to treat locally advanced prostate cancer with less need for long-term hormone therapy, potentially preserving quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 45 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The combination of radiation and Pluvicto may cause side effects, and it is not yet known if it will effectively prevent cancer recurrence.
