Triple-Drug attack before prostate surgery shows promise in early trial
NCT ID NCT06861192
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding two drugs—fasudil hydrochloride and a PD-1 inhibitor—to standard hormone therapy before prostate cancer surgery can better shrink or eliminate tumors. About 83 men with locally advanced or limited metastatic prostate cancer will receive either the combo or a placebo before their operation. The goal is to see if more patients have no visible cancer left in the removed prostate.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Fasudil hydrochloride, PD-1 inhibitor (triprilizumab), and androgen deprivation therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could become a new standard neoadjuvant treatment before prostate cancer surgery, potentially improving the chance of eliminating or shrinking tumors.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 83 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The added drugs may cause side effects like immune reactions or blood pressure changes, and the benefit over standard hormone therapy alone is unproven.
