Stand up to beat diabetes: new study tests desk solution

NCT ID NCT05585190

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using a sit-stand desk at work can improve how the body uses insulin and lower diabetes risk. About 198 overweight or obese adults with sedentary desk jobs will be randomly assigned to stand 2 or 3 hours per day, or continue sitting as usual, for 6 months. The goal is to see if standing more can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.
