New hope for men with advanced prostate cancer: STAMPEDE2 trial tests targeted radiation and radioactive drug

NCT ID NCT06320067

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This large phase 3 trial tests whether adding targeted radiotherapy (SABR) or a radioactive drug (PSMA-Lutetium) to standard hormone therapy helps men with metastatic prostate cancer live longer and slows cancer spread. About 3,360 participants from UK hospitals will be randomly assigned to one of these new treatments or standard care. The goal is to improve survival and control the disease, but ongoing hormone therapy is still needed.
