New screening tool could spot hidden mental health struggles in heart patients
NCT ID NCT03513185
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study tested a new questionnaire called SSS-CN to see if it can accurately detect somatic symptom disorder (SSD) in heart outpatients. SSD causes physical symptoms like pain or fatigue that are linked to mental distress, but many patients go to general hospitals instead of mental health clinics. The goal was to see if SSS-CN is a practical tool for doctors to diagnose SSD and track treatment progress, especially in patients who may also have anxiety or depression.
