Summary
This study investigates whether Doppler ultrasound, a non-invasive imaging technique, can measure blood flow to the gut in patients with septic shock. The goal is to see if these measurements correlate with how well the body clears lactate (a marker of tissue oxygen debt), the severity of organ dysfunction, and whether patients can tolerate tube feeding. The study will enroll 80 adults in the ICU with septic shock and follow them for up to 72 hours.
