New synthetic bone graft tested against donor tissue in spine surgery
NCT ID NCT05037968
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares two bone graft materials used in spine fusion surgery for patients with degenerative disc disease and back or leg pain. One is a synthetic material called MagnetOs Flex Matrix, and the other is a donor-based graft called Trinity Elite. About 100 adults will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two grafts during surgery, and doctors will check how well the bones fuse using CT scans and X-rays over 12 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- MagnetOs Flex Matrix (synthetic bone graft) and Trinity Elite (donor bone graft)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could show that a synthetic bone graft works as well as a donor-based graft for spine fusion, offering a reliable alternative.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase study with only 100 participants. Results may not apply to all patients, and there is always a risk that the synthetic graft may not fuse bones as effectively.
