New study aims to catch spine disease early and test rehab program
NCT ID NCT06337513
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study follows 250 people with long-term back pain who may have early axial spondyloarthritis, a type of inflammatory arthritis. Researchers want to learn how the disease develops and whether a 6-month rehab program with a physiotherapist can help. The goal is to reduce the years-long delay in diagnosis and improve quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
physiotherapist-coordinated rehabilitation program
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to earlier diagnosis and better management of axial spondyloarthritis, reducing long-term disability.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study with a small rehabilitation component, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is not a drug and may not change disease progression.
