First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether starting body-weight-supported treadmill training (BWSTT) at different times within the first 6 months after a spinal cord injury affects walking ability. 108 participants will be randomly assigned to start therapy within 60 days, 3 months, 6 months, or receive no extra therapy. The goal is to find the best time window for rehabilitation.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help determine the best time to start walking therapy after spinal cord injury, potentially improving recovery for many patients.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 108 participants. It may not find a clear difference between early and late training, and results may not apply to all injury types.
