New surgery aims to stop spinal cord damage in its tracks

Summary
This study tests two surgical procedures to reduce further damage after a severe spinal cord injury. Ten adults with recent spinal cord injury will receive either a standard decompression surgery or that surgery plus a nerve graft. The goal is to see if these approaches are safe and help improve independence and neurological function over 12 months.
