Face-to-face or screen? new study tests spider phobia treatments

NCT ID NCT07432945

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two types of exposure training for people with spider phobia: in-person exposure with a real spider and videochat-based exposure where someone else handles the spider. 72 adults with spider fear will be randomly assigned to one of these treatments or a waiting list. The goal is to see which method better reduces fear and disgust, measured by how close participants can get to a spider and their self-reported fear levels.
