New hope for advanced breast cancer: drug combo targets resistant tumors
NCT ID NCT05860465
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new oral drug called SPH4336 combined with hormone therapy (letrozole or fulvestrant) in people with a common type of advanced breast cancer (HR-positive, HER2-negative) that has worsened after prior treatment. About 254 participants will receive either the drug or a placebo alongside hormone therapy. The goal is to see if the combination can shrink tumors or delay cancer growth.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- SPH4336 tablets (a targeted cancer drug) combined with letrozole or fulvestrant (hormone therapies)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced breast cancer whose current therapy has stopped working.
