First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether wearing special 'active' sports shoes can help people with severe COPD walk farther during a six-minute walk test compared to their usual shoes. The shoes are designed with cushioning and rocker soles to store and return energy, which may make walking easier. 75 adults with advanced COPD who are in a rehabilitation program will participate. If effective, this simple, low-cost change could improve daily mobility and quality of life.
