Precision radiation may slow rare salivary gland cancer

NCT ID NCT04883671

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether giving focused radiation (SBRT) early to people with adenoid cystic carcinoma that has spread to a few spots can slow the cancer's growth. About 32 participants will either receive SBRT or standard care. Researchers will track how long the cancer stays under control and how patients feel.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a way to delay cancer progression and improve quality of life for people with advanced adenoid cystic carcinoma.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 32 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. SBRT can cause side effects like fatigue or damage to nearby organs.
