NCT ID NCT05824273

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether Facebook ads and a personalized online tool called LungTalk could increase awareness and knowledge about lung cancer screening among people at high risk. Over 500 participants with a history of heavy smoking were recruited through Facebook. The goal was to see if these methods could encourage more people to talk to their doctor and get screened.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

LungTalk (computer-tailored health communication tool) and Facebook-targeted advertisements

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could help more high-risk people learn about and get screened for lung cancer, potentially catching it earlier.

What could go wrong

This is a completed study focused on awareness and knowledge, not on actual cancer outcomes. The results may not lead to widespread changes in screening behavior.
