Could a spinning chair help heal concussion symptoms?
NCT ID NCT07527663
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a device called GyroStim, which uses a rotating chair to stimulate the brain's balance and movement systems. Researchers want to see if adding this therapy to standard physical and speech therapy helps adults with post-concussion syndrome recover faster. About 128 participants will be split into two groups: one gets standard care, the other adds 10 SMART sessions. The study measures changes in headaches, dizziness, balance, and thinking skills.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
GyroStim device (sensorimotor multi-axis automated rotational therapy)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new, faster way to reduce persistent symptoms like dizziness, headaches, and balance problems after a concussion.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with only 128 participants, and it's not yet proven if SMART therapy works better than standard care. Results may not apply to everyone with post-concussion syndrome.
