NCT ID NCT04614922
First seen Jul 21, 2026 · Last updated Jul 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a group-based therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help people with ongoing symptoms after a concussion, such as headaches and trouble thinking. Participants who have had symptoms for more than six months will attend seven group sessions over several weeks. The goal is to see if ACT improves daily function and reduces symptom burden compared to usual care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — a behavioral therapy that helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings while committing to value-driven actions
- What this could lead to
- If effective, ACT could offer a non-drug way to help people with long-lasting concussion symptoms feel better and return to work or school.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 48 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The therapy is time-intensive and requires active participation.
