New hope for liver cancer: Triple-Drug cocktail enters Mid-Stage trial
NCT ID NCT06880523
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether adding lenvatinib to the STRIDE regimen (durvalumab plus tremelimumab) works better than STRIDE alone for people with advanced liver cancer that cannot be surgically removed. About 140 adults who have not had prior systemic therapy will be enrolled. The study compares progression-free survival and overall survival between the two groups.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
durvalumab, tremelimumab, and lenvatinib
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more effective combination therapy for people with advanced liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial with only 140 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Adding lenvatinib may increase side effects without improving outcomes.
