Nerve block injection may improve sleep for PTSD sufferers
NCT ID NCT07667309
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how a stellate ganglion block injection affects sleep in U.S. service members and veterans with PTSD who are already receiving talk therapy. About 40 participants will wear an EEG headband for three nights before and three nights after the injection to measure brain activity during sleep. They will also fill out questionnaires about their sleep quality. The goal is to see if the injection can improve sleep, which is often disrupted in PTSD.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
stellate ganglion block injection
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that the injection improves sleep quality for people with PTSD, pointing toward a better understanding of how to treat sleep problems in this condition.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The injection is already used for other conditions, but its effect on sleep is not yet proven.
