NCT ID NCT07600593

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated Jun 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study aims to create a risk index for postpartum depression by analyzing sleep patterns in 60 Hong Kong mothers. Participants will wear an actigraphy watch for 14 days to track sleep quality and efficiency, while also completing questionnaires about mood and anxiety. The goal is to see if sleep data can help identify mothers who may develop depression after childbirth.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a simple sleep-based screening tool to identify mothers at risk for postpartum depression.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early observational study (60 participants) that only measures sleep and mood. It does not test any treatment, and results may not apply to all mothers.
