AI and relaxation techniques tested to ease postpartum pain

NCT ID NCT07445711

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether guided imagery (a relaxation technique) and AI-generated videos can reduce pain during uterine involution checks—the process where the uterus shrinks back after birth. About 150 new mothers who had a vaginal delivery will be randomly assigned to listen to a guided imagery audio, watch an AI-powered video, or receive standard care. Their pain and vital signs will be measured to see if these non-drug methods help.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
guided imagery and AI-assisted video
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer new mothers a safe, non-drug way to ease pain during postpartum checks.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (150 participants) testing a technique, not a treatment. Results may not apply to all women, and the effect on pain might be minimal.
