New study links sleep and anxiety to blood sugar in pregnancy

NCT ID NCT07314944

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This observational study follows 100 pregnant women with gestational diabetes to see how sleep quality, anxiety, eating habits, and lifestyle relate to blood sugar control and birth outcomes. Participants complete questionnaires and undergo glucose monitoring either at home or during a short hospital stay. The goal is to identify factors that may improve care for mothers and babies, but no new treatment is being tested.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help doctors better understand which factors most influence blood sugar control and birth outcomes in gestational diabetes, potentially leading to improved monitoring and support strategies.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It cannot prove cause and effect, and results may not apply to all women with gestational diabetes. The small size (100 participants) limits how broadly findings can be used.
