Mountain Workers' sleep under the microscope: high altitude study launches
NCT ID NCT07423988
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how sleeping at high altitude (2,877 meters) affects the sleep quality of 32 employees at Pic du Midi. Researchers will compare nights spent at home versus nights spent at the summit using sleep recordings. The goal is to understand sleep changes in people who regularly work in extreme conditions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help understand how high altitude affects sleep, potentially leading to better sleep management for people working in such conditions.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study with only 32 participants, so findings may not apply to everyone. It measures sleep changes but does not test any treatment.
