Summary

This study tests whether a smartphone app, with or without personal coaching by phone, can improve sleep in children aged 6–12 with autism and insomnia. Parents use the app to learn behavioral sleep strategies. The trial will enroll 195 families and also measure effects on children's daytime symptoms and parents' well-being.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

smartphone app with parent coaching

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give families a practical, drug-free way to improve sleep and daytime behavior in children with autism.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively small trial testing a behavioral intervention, not a drug. Results may vary by family, and the app may not work for every child.
