Breathing treatment may stop diabetes before it starts

NCT ID NCT04225507

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a CPAP breathing machine to a standard diet and exercise program can better prevent diabetes in overweight adults with prediabetes and sleep apnea. Researchers want to see if treating sleep apnea improves blood sugar and heart health more than lifestyle changes alone. About 174 participants will use a smartphone app and receive weekly coaching calls to help them stick with their treatment plan for six months.
