AI reads your skin: new tool aims to help doctors spot rashes and moles
NCT ID NCT07033169
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a software tool called Belle.ai that uses artificial intelligence to help doctors diagnose common skin diseases. About 400 patients at dermatology clinics will have three photos taken of their skin condition. The AI will analyze the photos and suggest possible diagnoses, which will then be compared to the diagnoses made by a panel of board-certified dermatologists. The goal is to see how well the AI matches expert opinion.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Belle.ai software (AI image analysis tool)
What this could lead to
If successful, this AI tool could help doctors diagnose skin conditions more quickly and accurately, potentially reducing misdiagnosis.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study focused on comparing AI diagnoses to doctor diagnoses, not on patient outcomes. The AI may not work well for all skin types or conditions, and it is not a replacement for a doctor's judgment.
