Scientists probe Skin's immune sentries in transplant complication

NCT ID NCT02611180

Summary

This study aims to understand the role of specific immune cells, called dendritic cells, in the development of skin graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after a bone marrow transplant. Researchers will collect and analyze small skin samples from 22 adult patients who have either acute or chronic skin GVHD. The goal is to learn how these cells might contribute to the disease, which could point to future treatment targets, but this study itself does not test any new treatments.
