First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether taking warm water sitz baths for 10 minutes each night for a week can reduce pain after pelvic organ prolapse repair. 112 women will be randomly assigned to sitz baths or standard care. The main goal is to measure pain intensity one week after surgery using a standard questionnaire.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
warm water sitz bath (device)
What this could lead to
If effective, sitz baths could become a simple, drug-free way to manage pain after prolapse surgery, reducing reliance on opioids.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 112 participants. The sitz bath may not reduce pain more than usual care, and results may not apply to all surgeries.
