NCT ID NCT07209787

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using a special reinforcing material (SIS) during bowel reconnection after rectal cancer surgery can prevent dangerous leaks. About 966 adults with mid-to-low rectal cancer will be randomly assigned to receive either the reinforced connection or the standard one. Researchers will compare leak rates, need for a temporary stoma, and recovery up to 12 months after surgery.
