Dental bone graft showdown: your own bone vs. synthetic

NCT ID NCT06247098

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how well the jawbone heals after a sinus lift, comparing two types of bone graft material: a mix of the patient's own bone with a synthetic material, versus the synthetic material alone. Ten adults needing dental implants will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. After four months, researchers will use CT scans and tissue samples to measure bone growth and healing.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help dentists choose the best bone graft material for sinus lifts, potentially improving dental implant success.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study with only 10 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is not testing a new treatment, just comparing two existing methods.
