New stapling technique aims to cut colon surgery leaks
NCT ID NCT07417358
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at a new way to reconnect the colon after surgery for cancer or diverticular disease. The goal is to see if using a single stapler instead of two can lower the risk of dangerous leaks at the connection point. About 500 adults having planned left-sided colon surgery will be observed, and their results will be compared to past patients who had the standard two-stapler method.
