Brain scans team up to map epilepsy and save healthy tissue
NCT ID NCT02342938
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looked at brain activity in 47 people (some with epilepsy, some healthy) using two non-invasive imaging methods (fMRI and MEG) at the same time as electrodes placed inside the brain. The goal was to better identify the area causing seizures and to map healthy brain networks, so surgeons can remove only the problem tissue and avoid harming important functions. This research helps improve surgical planning for epilepsy and other brain conditions.
