NCT ID NCT07584174
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether low-intensity shockwave therapy or pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, each combined with pelvic floor muscle training, can improve sexual function in women with sexual dysfunction. 90 premenopausal women aged 20-50 will be randomly assigned to one of three groups for 8 weeks of treatment, followed by 8 weeks of monitoring. The main goal is to see if these therapies boost scores on a standard sexual function questionnaire.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer new non-drug options to improve sexual function and quality of life for women with sexual dysfunction.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 90 participants. Results may not apply to all women, and the therapies may not prove more effective than pelvic floor training alone.
