NCT ID NCT05697393
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests an external band worn around the neck (Shaker Pressure Band) to see if it reduces nighttime symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), such as coughing, choking, and regurgitation. Researchers will enroll 350 adults with GERD and track changes in their symptoms. The goal is a non-drug option for better sleep and fewer throat-related reflux issues.

Active substance
Shaker Pressure Band (external neck band device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this band could offer a simple, non-drug way to reduce nighttime choking, cough, and regurgitation for people with GERD.
What could go wrong
This is an early study without a placebo group, so results may be influenced by the placebo effect. The band may not work for everyone or could be uncomfortable.
