Blood test may cut unnecessary hospital stays for Pre-Eclampsia suspicions

NCT ID NCT05228002

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a blood test measuring two proteins (sFlt-1 and PlGF) can help doctors better decide if a pregnant woman with suspected pre-eclampsia needs to be hospitalized. Pre-eclampsia is a serious condition that can harm both mother and baby, but current diagnosis methods are not very accurate. The study involved 43 pregnant women and aimed to see if using this test could reduce unnecessary hospital stays while still catching true cases. The results could lead to simpler guidelines for French hospitals.
