First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This completed study tested a 4-week group program designed to boost confidence (self-efficacy) in managing type 2 diabetes. Sixteen adults from primary health centers in Indonesia took part. Researchers measured changes in self-care behaviors and self-efficacy using questionnaires, and interviewed some participants about their experiences. The goal was to see if such a program could help people better manage their diabetes day-to-day.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Self-Efficacy Program for Diabetes Self-Management (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If the program works, it could point toward a simple, group-based way to help people with type 2 diabetes better manage their condition.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early exploratory study with only 16 participants, so results may not apply to larger or different populations. It also cannot prove long-term health benefits.
