Summary

This phase 1 trial tests a new investigational drug, SCB0020160, for the first time in humans. Healthy adult men aged 18 to 65 receive either the drug or a placebo to evaluate safety, tolerability, and how the drug moves through the body. The study also looks at whether food affects drug absorption. There is no direct health benefit for participants, but results will help determine safe doses for future research in conditions like solid tumors, obesity, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

SCB0020160

What this could lead to

If safe and well-tolerated, this could pave the way for future studies of SCB0020160 in conditions like solid tumors, obesity, or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

What could go wrong

This is an early, first-in-human trial with only 74 healthy men. It is designed to check safety, not to treat disease. Many early-stage drugs fail to show benefit or have unexpected side effects.
