Can radiation reignite cancer control after immunotherapy fails?
NCT ID NCT02710253
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This phase II trial tests whether radiation therapy can help control cancer that has spread or grown after immunotherapy. About 230 patients with metastatic or lymphoid cancers will receive targeted radiation to see if it stabilizes the disease or shrinks tumors. The study also monitors side effects to find the best dose.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- External Beam Radiation Therapy and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a way to control cancer that has worsened after immunotherapy, potentially slowing disease progression.
- What could go wrong
- This is a mid-stage trial, so results are not yet proven. Radiation may cause side effects, and not all patients may benefit.
