Spit test for gum disease? researchers hunt for new diagnostic clues

NCT ID NCT07025291

Summary

This study aimed to find out if measuring three specific substances in saliva could help doctors better diagnose gum disease. Researchers compared saliva samples from 60 healthy people, people with mild gum inflammation (gingivitis), and people with more serious gum disease (periodontitis). The goal was to see if these saliva markers could reliably tell the different conditions apart and potentially lead to a simpler diagnostic tool.
