ER safety plan tested to stop suicide repeats

NCT ID NCT04230434

Summary

This study tested whether a 'Safety Plan' tool could be successfully used in a busy emergency department to help people at immediate risk of suicide. The plan helps patients identify warning signs, coping strategies, and people to contact during a crisis. Researchers wanted to see if using this plan in a real-world hospital setting could reduce repeat suicide attempts and help patients get follow-up care.
