NCT ID NCT06112249
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a training program called SAFE for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities who are working or looking for work. The program taught them about COVID-19, how to use protective gear, social distancing, and self-advocacy. 67 young adults took part, and the results showed they learned more about preventing airborne diseases and felt safer at work.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SAFE Employment Training (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could provide a practical, accessible way to teach people with intellectual disabilities how to protect themselves from airborne diseases at work.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed feasibility study with only 67 participants. The results may not apply to larger or more diverse groups, and the program may not work as well in real-world settings without peer support.
